A book club examining Marcel Proust’s The Way by Swann’s over a series of intimate discussions as well as stories about the night sky recounted by the head of Dubai Astronomy Group are part of the literary output for Alserkal Avenue's summer programme. Sensing Memory is a series of workshops, lectures, performances, and seminars that straddles the disparate subjects of narrative, architecture, virtual reality and war begins this week and culminates in the middle of September. The programme also includes practical sessions teaching participants as how to write a memoir, how to access subconscious memory and how to make your own perfume.

It is a carefully curated schedule of events designed for the culturally conscious and aimed at stimulating all the senses: keep an eye out for coffee-tasting sessions as well as tai chi lessons and storytelling for kids.
