Submissions are now open for the annual edition of The Christo and Jeanne-Claude Award. Presented under the Patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Shamsa bint Hamdan Al Nahyan, and produced in collaboration with the New York University Abu Dhabi and in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF), the awards is been established to nurture artistic talent in the United Arab Emirates.
The award is given for the proposal and creation of an artwork that, in the spirit of Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s work, can be publicly exhibited and enjoyed.
Entrants may select any media with which to work including, but not limited to, photography, sculpture, installation, land art, and video. They are encouraged to think creatively about how to exhibit their work.
To apply, all entrants need to complete an application form before January 22, 2018. It must also include a proposed budget.
- The final winning work will be exhibited at NYUAD Abu Dhabi campus in November 2018.
- The winning artist will directly receive $10,000 to enable the production of the new work.
- At the end of their exhibition, the artist will then be gifted $5000 by Christo himself to fund future artistic projects, study and/ or work experience.
