Warehouse421, Abu Dhabi’s contemporary art institution has launched the Project Revival Fund with the aim to “alleviate the disruption affecting the creative production impacted by the challenges arising from the Covid-19 pandemic”.

The fund, which grants up to $2000 per successful applicant, is specifically for visual artists, curators, literary creatives, designers and musicians in the MENASA region. Applications are open to local and regional emerging and mid-career creatives across multiple disciplines and are being accepted

Faisal Al Hassan, Manager of Warehouse421 said: “We hope that the Warehouse421 Project Revival Fund will support the region-wide efforts to ensure the sustainability of the creative practices that make up our ecosystem. At the core of what we do at Warehouse421 is our commitment to support emerging talent in the region, and we hope that this fund will offer creatives the much-needed opportunity to continue their projects that were impacted by the current difficulties the world is facing.”

Applications will be assessed on several criteria including: urgency, budget viability and impact. Applicants above the age of 21 can apply through an online application on the website available in both Arabic and English. Submissions will be screened by a selection committee that includes members of our team and cultural practitioners from the region.

The funds allocated to the selected creatives will cover the costs of producing and finalising projects that are currently on hold, including but not limited to library and digital learning resources, transcription and translation services, rental and purchase of equipment, art materials, and other tools that facilitate continuing the project while isolating at home.

Some of the selected projects will have the opportunity to be part of the Warehouse421 program of exhibitions and community-wide initiatives, in its continuous effort to provide a platform for creatives from the region.

“The fund is the first of multiple initiatives we are launching to support emerging talent in the region. Now more than ever, we will need your support to reach as many creative practitioners as we can. I encourage you to share the details of the fund with your community,” concluded Hassan.
