Hassan Sharif: Interexchange Symposium

In the final days of Hassan Sharif: I am the Single Work Artist, the Sharjah Art Foundation have organised a full day of panels and talks based on the artist's legacy. 

Exploring Hassan Sharif's five-decade career the day will begin with an introduction by Sheikha Hoor Al Qasimi, the founder of Sharjah Art Foundation and then a panel discussion titled Hassan’s Role as an Educator. It will feature Sharif's fellow artists Mohamed Kazem, Abdulla Al Saadi and Mohammad Ahmed Ibrahim and will be moderated by Noora Al Mualla.

After lunch, two open conversations about his practice and his position in a global context will see contributions from Dr Yousef Aidabi, a prominent critic and writer as well as Alexander Gray, Sharif's gallerist in New York and Vivek Vilasini, another of his fellow artists and member of the Flying House group.

In the afternoon, a panel discussing Hassan’s Role in Introducing Public Art in the UAE will be presented as well as a talk by Catherine David on curating Experiments & Objects 2011 - 1979
