Sharjah Art Foundation looking for proposals

Are you an artist, writer, researcher, curator or an art practitioner and looking to take part in Sharjah Art Foundation’s annual March Meeting? Well, look no further. The foundation are looking for submissions for the MM 2020 proceedings. The open call is asking for abstracts for papers respond ingto the overall theme of this year’s meeting and/or specific issues suggested by the MM 2020 panel titles: Sharjah Biennial in Retrospect, Art and the Civic Imagination, The Biennial Nation, Sharjah Biennials in the Regional Context, Biennials and Postcoloniality, and Curating in the Age of Crises. Upon selection, contributors will be required to submit an original unpublished paper of 4000–5000 words in English or Arabic and the selected contributors are expected to attend MM 2020 and the panel discussions.
Applicants should download and complete the application form linked here. The abstract (200 words) should be supported by a short bio (150 words) and CV. All materials must be sent to marchmeeting@sharjahart.org by 16 February 2020.
Sharjah Art Foundation will cover round-trip travel and accommodation expenses in Sharjah from March 21 to 23, 2020. A modest per diem will also be provided.

The invitation is also open to filmmakers to apply for the Sharjah Film Platform (SFP) Short Film Production Grant. Here, applicants should submit a grant application detailing the genre, themes, plot, structure, setting and characters for their original short film. A total of US$30,000 will be awarded and distributed amongst the awardees. The final film must be completed by November 20, 2020 and will premiere at Sharjah Film Platform, scheduled to commence December 2020.
