Experimenter Curator's Hub opens today

Live streaming of The Experimenter Curator’s Hub (ECH) begins today in Kolkata. The three-day programme of talks and debates will take place at Experimenter Gallery from 27-29 July, 2017 and is available to watch live here.
Annually, ECH brings together ten leading curators from around the world to present and reflect on their work in the presence of their colleagues, artists, writers, critics, historians, architects, designers and art enthusiasts, to debate and critique the latest concerns and positions on the process of exhibition-making. This year’s participants are: Pedro de Almeida, Reem Fadda, Roobina Karode, Olivier Kaeser, Hammad Nasar, Barbara Piwowarska, Ruba Katrib, Lauren Cornell and Nada Raza. Natasha Ginwala will moderate the event.
Nasar is the curator of the UAE Pavilion at this year's Venice Biennale and he will be discussing that role at the event as well as a project called Lines of Control: Partition as a Productive Space. Both projects explore ideas of belonging through inhabitation, and the mechanisms through which histories and memories are both malleable and entangled. This idea of enmeshed histories is something Nasar is also working with in his current project, London, Asia at the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art.
The curator's hub is now in its seventh edition and, since the outset, more than 50 international curators have taken part including Hans Ulrich Obrist, art curator, critic and historian of art and artistic director at the Serpentine Galleries. Obrist participated in the 2016 edition and said it was an important event on the region's cultural calendar. “The ECH brings people together from a range of artistic backgrounds, locations and experiences for a captivating debate on the latest trends and ideas informing exhibitions worldwide,” he said. “It’s a unique chance to share your own work with people contributing to the arts.”
All the presentations by curators will be added to the Experimenter Gallery website, offered as a resource to enable further audiences to experience the event. Films from the previous editions can also be viewed here.
